And there has already been an App Engine outage, so it's not out of the realms of possibility that it will be an N times sized population of dabblers who have their belief in Jaiku as a second class Twitter confirmed when it falls down. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen like that.

I admit that FriendFeed is what I was thinking of. I think the way that it handles comments is really good (though it doesn't have any concept of a read comment either).

I come back to Jaiku in the morning and I have a whole bunch of comments that are out of context. It's a little better with jaikungfu because at least you have the full jaiku as a link. I would like the original jaiku, along with its thread, moved to the top whenever there's a new comment. That way I can always read them in context. It would be great if the collapsing of the thread was configurable, so that only the comments that are new since my last visit are expanded by default, but I'm not sure that Jaiku has a concept of a read comment.
